The Fair Housing Act is a federal law that prohibits discrimination in the sale and rental of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, or handicap. In Maryland, protected classes also include marital status, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Access the Maryland Fair Housing Resource Guide on the Maryland REALTORS® website.
The Coastal Association of REALTORS® is a proud participant in the annual Maryland REALTORS® Fair Housing Art Contest. Local students are encouraged to submit illustrations that depict a Fair Housing theme, which is determined annually by the Maryland REALTORS® Housing Affordability & Equal Opportunity Committee. Winning submissions are showcased in a statewide Fair Housing publication and the student is invited to a special recognition ceremony in Annapolis with a state official.
