Nearly 100 REALTOR® and affiliate members, state elected officials, and local elected officials attended the event, held in the Danang Room. Attendees enjoyed a hearty Eastern Shore breakfast while listening to honored guest speakers Luis Luna, director of the Governor’s Office of Performance Improvement; Sen. Adelaide Eckardt; Sen. Jim Mathias; Del. Sheree Sample-Hughes; Del. Chris Adams; Del. Johnny Mautz; Del. Charles Otto; Del. Carl Anderton; and Del. Mary Beth Carozza. The elected officials provided an update on what they accomplished during the 2016 Legislative Session of the General Assembly and their goals for the interim and next year.

“The talks were very informative and we appreciate our elected officials taking the time out of their busy schedules to have breakfast with us,” said CAR President Linda Moran. “If real estate is your business, government is also your business. It is vitally important for real estate professionals to be engaged in their local and state government. This enables them to provide better service to their clients and assist in the ongoing efforts to protect private property rights, which is the foundation of our advocacy work.”

CAR collected nonperishable food donations at the check-in table to benefit the Maryland Food Bank of the Eastern Shore. CAR also raffled off two tickets to the J. Millard Tawes Crab & Clam Bake, which will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Crisfield. Chris Barnes, a REALTOR® with Long & Foster Real Estate in Ocean City, was the winner.

Two door prizes were also awarded. Sheri Smith, a REALTOR® with Condominium Realty in Ocean City, won a Designer’s Edge Spa Package courtesy of Real Estate Title & Escrow. Nancy Althaus, a REALTOR® with Long & Foster Real Estate in Salisbury, won a $200 Visa gift card courtesy of CAR.

The event was sponsored in part by the Maryland Association of REALTORS®.
