The Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) is dedicated to protecting private property rights by advocating for REALTORS®, affiliate members, property owners, home buyers, and sellers through our Government Affairs Program. CAR’s Government Affairs Director (GAD) represents the association to foster strong relationships with local elected officials and monitor local ordinances and legislative actions affecting the real estate industry. The association’s Government Affairs Committee works to help pass laws that maintain a healthy business environment for our members and their clients, while also helping to defeat laws that increase the cost of housing and inhibit the growth of the local real estate industry. The Government Affairs Program also coordinates periodic candidate forums during local elections to help political candidates connect with our members and with the public.
